The University Library

The Copperbelt University Library consists of the Main Library, Dag Hammarskjöd / American Corner Library and the Ndola School of Medicine Library. The main library occupies two floors of the Central Administration Building. The Library system is the principal information provider for all students and staff. The Library focuses on meeting the learning, teaching and research needs of the University by developing and sustaining a comprehensive, appropriate and up-to date collection of information and knowledge resources. The Library has a collection of nearly 25,000 volumes, which is still expanding and a wide range of journals on most of the taught subjects in the University.

The Library has automated most of its internal functions, including the main Library Catalogue. A number of Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) terminals are located in several places of the library for use by the readers.

Highly used items are found in the Short Loan Collection, while the Special Collections wing of the Library stocks University publications, theses, Government documents and local publications (Zambiana). This wing provides very good research facilities. Besides providing Library users with information services, the Library also provides printing, bindery and photocopying services. The Library is currently working on improving its (Information Technology) IT base so that users can easily access a wide range of information sources.
