During the Labour Day Prizes awards presentation done at the Copperbelt University Graduation Square on 5th June, 2009, Guest of Honour, Vice Chairperson of Council, Mrs Chuma Kabaghe gave credit to recipients for being awarded and referred to them as role models from whom peers can learn. Mrs Kabaghe encouraged them to work even harder and smarter given the current economic circumstances.
"Institutions of higher learning are not insulated from the current events and must therefore take recognizance of these events as they occur. Let us not pretend to be ostriches and bury our heads in the sand but instead be pro-active in repositioning the Institution to meet the challenges of the current economic order and in turn secure our jobs," she said.
