Programme Objectives and Employement Opportunities

The programmes offered in the School of Engineering aim to prepare students for a career in an engineering profession. A graduate should be able to put scientific and technical knowledge to practical use in industry or service institution.

Students who intend to undertake one of the programmes require a good background in mathematics and keen interest in science and scientific procedures; additionally, they should have analytical and conceptual abilities as well as the desire to understand why and how things happen.

Female students are encouraged to participate in these programmes, which up to now have been male dominated. Prospects for women in engineering are high and the expected further expansion in these fields promise even better opportunities in future.
