Mathematics & Science Education

The School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (SMNS) came into existence in 2009 when it got separated from the School of Technology.  The Department of Mathematics and Science Education was thus formed in 2009.  The courses offered in the Department are as follows: Communication Skills, Introduction to Education, Principles of Education, Educational Media Technology, Education Research Methods, Educational Administration and Management and Method of Teaching Mathematics and Science.  The objective of the course is for the students to acquire sufficient insight.  It also helps them to acquire practical knowledge which is necessary to function in Education and transmission of knowledge.  The personal development of the students is furthered through independent work and through responsibility through their education.

The Department in addition to offering courses at undergraduate level is now catering for postgraduate courses.  Master of Science in Biology Education has already started in the current academic year.  Master of Science in Chemistry Education, Physics Education and Mathematics Education are expected to start in the near future.
