In the 2008-2009, the inception years, the School shall start with Biological Sciences, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, and Mathematics and Science Education. Departments of Biological Sciences, Mathematics, and Physical Sciences shall offer the Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in their respective approved specialisations. The Department of Mathematics and Science Education shall offer the following:
  • Bachelor of Science (BSc),
  • Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), and
  • Master of Science (MSc).
Eligible candidates may apply for Doctoral work in Mathematics and Science Education. In the School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, the minimum
duration of studies are as follows on fulltime basis: BSc - 36 months (or 4 years), MSc - I8 months (or 2 years), and PhD-36 months (or 4 years). In the first two years of study towards the BSc degree, all students take the same core courses to assure adequate general education in mathematics and science foundational concepts. In the final two years, students pursue their courses in their degree specialisation. In the final year of undergraduate and postgraduate study for all degrees, candidates are required to present a Research Project (BSc level), Dissertation (MSc level), or a Thesis (Doctoral
level). These must be extended reports detailing the research problem, the methodology, and the results of supervised research undertaken by the candidate.
