Department of Civil Engineering and Construction

The programmes offered in the Department are designed to produce human resource at technician and technologist level within the construction and engineering industry

The courses covered are:
Construction Technician (Certificate)

This ore programme is designed to prepare students for employment in different fields within the construction industry. The training imaprted is broad based. Students upon graduation can be gainfully employed in City Councils, Government Departments and private organisations

Civil Engineering Technology (Diploma)
This course is designed to produce technologist to fit in the middle management levels in the fields of Building, Construction, Municipal Engineering and Highway Engineering.
In addition to these specialised fields, emphasis is laid on land survey techniques for the civil engineer. Students are also made familiar with the principles of management and administration

Higher Dploma in Civil Engineering
The Higher Diploma involves two programmes-Water Engineering and Highway Engineering

Water Engineering:This course is confined to diploma holders in Civil Engineering (from either CBU) and Water Engineering (or NRDC) or equivalent with sufficient work experience in the major aspects of water engineering

Highway Engineering: This course is confined to diploma holders in Civil Engineering (at CBU) or equivalent with sufficient work experience in the major aspects of highway engineering
