Real Estate is the study of the use, management and development of land and is concerned with the economic, legal, sociological and technical factors which affect the ownership of land form its early beginnings and rather narrow scope, the discipline was widely referred to as "Estate Management"
As an academic subject Real Estate derives its basic knowledge from the contributoiry subjects of economics, law and the primary technologies of agriculture, forestry and the creation of buildings. the scope of the degree sees the discipline in terms of fusion of these contributory subjects into intellectual framework within wich descisons concerning the use and management of land resources are taken
The contributory subjects are integrated in a special synthesis to give the discipline its uniquie kernel and identity. the content of the degree course is designed to cover the following basic study areas:
The valuation of interests in land and the evaluaton of the land resources and investment of all purposes including land transactions
The principles and practice of planning the allocation and use of
land resources
The development and management fo rural and urban land estates
Housing as a ahuman settlement and a public and private investment
Law and taxation relating to land
Advice on policies relating to land, ownership, land use, land reform and related aspects of national development programmes
The role of agriculture and industrial development in the national economy |
