School of Technology
The School of Technology came into being as a resultof
the merger
between the Zambia Institute of Technology (Z.I.T.) and
two schools i.e. School of Business and School of Built
Environmental Studies.
On January 1st 1989, three Departments of Z.I.T. formed
the School of Technology, namely the Academic and Industrial
Science Department, the Electrical Engineering Department
and Mining Department.
The objective of the School is to promote the development
of science, technology and environmental studies, encourage
and facilitate research activities which address the demands
of the national economy.
The 1996 saw the introduction of degree programmes:
B.Eng in Electrical / Electronics
B.Eng in Chemical Engineering and
B.Sc Computer Science
which were followed by B.Eng Electrical / Mechanical, B.Eng
Mining, B.Eng in Metallurgical Engineering and B.Eng in
Environmental Engineering.
Diploma programmes offered in the School include
Electrical, Electronics, Industrial Electronics, and Telecommunications,
Mining, and Metallurgy Mine Ventilation, Surveying, Small
Scale Mining, Chemical Technology and Information Technology.
