School Rules and Regulations

  1. Assessment

    1. The assessment of students in a course/subject will consist of continuous assessment and the final examination. The final examination as well as the continuous assessment shall be weighted at 50% for diploma and 40 / 60% for degree.
    2. The continuous assessment shall consist of tests, assignments, projects and any other work as may be assigned by a lecturer
    3. The continuous assessment shall consist of at least two assessments in each term.
  2. Grading Scheme

    The following grading scheme shall be used to grade all work:

    86 - 100
    Distinction
    A
    76 - 85 Distinction
    B+68 - 75
    Meritorious
    B
    62 - 67
    Very Satisfactory
    C+
    56 - 61
    Definite Pass
    C
    50 - 55 Bare Pass
    D+

  3. Classification of Degrees

    1. To pass a course/subject a student must score at least a C or 50%.
    2. The degree of Bachelor of Engineering/Science shall be classified as distinction, merit, credit or pass.
    Note: Aerostat degree will be conferred for cases qualifying due cocompensatory reasons.

    In calculating the grade of degrees the following shall be applied for the grades obtained in the third to fifth year except for Computer
    Science and Bachelor of Education in Science and Mathematics where it is from 3rd to 4th year:

    A - 4 A - 2.0
    B+ - 3 B+ - 1.5
    B - 2 B - 1.0
    C+ - 1 C+ - 0.5
    C - 0 C - 0

    Points Classification of Degree

    In calculation the grade of degree , the following shall be applied:

  4. Graduation

    A student must have fulfilled the following requirements to qualify for graduation:
    1. Must have passed all courses of the programme of his/her study;
    2. Must have undergone practical training during Industrial Attachment.
  5. Course Coding

    1. The letters and numbers represent the code (i.e. Two letter code for degree courses & three letter code for Diploma courses. The letter 'D" stands for a Diploma), The third digit indicates the course weight designation: 0 for a full credit course, 1 to 9 for a half credit course.
    2. The Abbreviated letter stand for identification of the subjects. i.e.
